APPELLATION: Rioja DOCa
VINIFICATION: Sustainable farming. Hand harvested in 15kg crates. 80% manually destemmed, 20% whole cluster. Fermentation in 20HL French-oak open top vats. Aged 16-18 months in frech-oak vats.
TASTING NOTES: UKAN is the icon of the winery. The result of a meticulous selection process of vineyards that results in three old Tempranillo vineyards with silty-clay and limestone- based soils. The three of them are located in Laguardia and vinificated separately before being blended into a single elegant and complex fine wine.
FOOD PAIRING: Legumes, read meat stews, roasts. This wine also pairs with desserts, sweets and dark chocolates.

Ukan is a small winery that follows the Bordeaux model and is focused in producing a great wine in very limited quantities.
Koldo, fifth generation of the family, leads the project with the winemaking collaboration of his cousin Eduardo. Together, they seek to reflect the Rioja Alavesa landscape into a unique wine using knowledge acquired from previous generations and adding a younger, more contemporary vision that both have learned in their international experience.
The project starts in the vineyard, where sustainable and ecological viticulture is practiced. This care for detail is spread into the elaboration process, fully hand-crafted.
They make a selection of vineyards that represent the diversity of the region and elaborate them separately to extract the best of each one.
UKAN is the result of blending these single vineyard wines. A unique wine that shows the richness and complexity of Rioja Alavesa / Sonsierra.
