CASAR DE BURBIA GODELLO BARRICA

GRAPE: Godello.

APPELLATION: Bierzo DO.

VINIFICATION: The wine harvest is gathered by hand in boxes holding a maximum of 10 kg. The grapes are also selected manually on entering the winery.

AGING: This special wine has been aged for twelve months on its lees with the appropriate «bâtonnages» in 500 litre French oak casks. Subsecuently, aged 12 months on its lees before stabilisation and final bottling.

TASTING NOTES: Clean, brilliant colour. Complex and elegant bouquet. Of medium intensity, its aromatic power is surprising with a predominance of spices, flowers and white fruit and bone, on a faint mineral and citrus base. Aging on the lees is noticeable on the palate, giving it good structure with volume and syrupiness. Balanced acidity, the   citrus and mineral sensations return in the after-taste. A wine which succeeds on    account of its body, volume and creaminess.

FOOD PAIRING:

Roasted chicken, buttery mashed potatoes or even an opulent hunk of foie gras. Seafood, prawns, fish and rice dishes.

PRODUCER: Casar de Burbia is a winery that focuses on quality in the excellent expression of its wines, proof of the constant efforts made to capture all of the essences provided by the privileged terroir of El Bierzo.

They are a family-run winery from the region El Bierzo (Spain), which has been making wines in the traditional way for more than two decades. Their wines are made with Mencía and Godello grapes from their own vineyards (27 Ha) located in the Camino de Santiago at an altitude of 900 meters over the sea level.

The vineyard is arranged into 42 plots, classified according to their altitude, orientation and soil characteristics. They are artisan and limited. Experienced in the winemaking process and knowledge of the Terroir.
