GRAPE: Macabeo, Parellada, Xarel·lo.

APPELLATION: Cava DO (Catalonia-Penedes).

VINIFICATION: First Fermented in tank over lees for 6 months. Less than 3 g/l and no sugar added. Second fermentation in bottle, aged on lees minimum 24 months.

TASTING NOTES: This lovely, crisp and refreshing bubbly is made in the trendy style of the most sought-after grower champagnes: with no dosage, or added sugar (thus the “brut nature” nomenclature). This is yet another example of why cava is a favorite sparkling wine for budget-conscious wine lovers.

FOOD PAIRING: Party apperitif, tartare (salmon or beef), seafood, tuna, barbacued chicken, barbecued pork , barbecued smoked-paprika pork chops.

The origins of Maset del Lleó winery goes back to 1777. A great legacy that has known how to last over time, generation after generation. A legacy where the family’s love for the land and its fruits is evident for all to see.
The family has dedicated itself for the past two centuries to cultivating Cavas offering the tradition and quality of their land.

Maset del Lleó winery is situated in the very heart of Alt Penedés, an excellent wine producing area, where the secret of their cavas is produced: namely, the grapes.

The influence of the sea and the sun provides Maset de Lleó land with a warm, gentle climate, suitable for cultivating the traditional white varieties such as Xarelo, Parellada and Macabeo used for CAVA traditional elaboration.

THE APPELLATION OF ORIGIN

The Denomination of Origin (D.O.) Cava is situated between Barcelona and Tarragona, in an area approximately 80km wide, bordered in the north by the Montserrat Mountains and in the south by the Sitges and Tarragona coast. The composition of the land is varied, ranging from clay-limestone areas to the sandy soil found at different depths where the vines put down their roots. The climate is mild in the winter and hot in the summer, without being too extreme.
